The Atlantic Scholarly Information Network is an initiative of the Council of Atlantic University Libraries/Conseil des bibliothèques universitaires de l'Atlantique aimed at facilitating greater cooperation and resource sharing among libraries in Atlantic Canada. In 2001, ASIN member institutions agreed to make available the ASIN Borrower's Card to students, faculty and staff of their schools.
The ASIN Borrowing Card gives the card holder in-person borrowing privileges at the CAUL/CBUA libraries. Borrowers' privileges are similar to their home institution's.
The ASIN Borrowing Card will be issued by the institution in which the student (including distance education students) is enrolled or the faculty/staff member is employed (the home institution) and in good standing for use at other CAUL/ CBUA institutions. ASIN Borrowing Cards will not be issued to users from the general public.
ASIN card holders will be responsible for following the local regulations appropriate to their level of privilege: for example, a King’s faculty member visiting and using libraries at UNB will be given the same borrowing privileges as a UNB faculty member; or a King's undergraduate student visiting and using libraries at Memorial will be given the same borrowing privileges as a Memorial undergraduate.
King's users may contact the circulation department at the Library.
Once the King's user has been issued an ASIN Borrower's Card, he or she may use the card to borrow material from any participating library. A temporary user account will be created for the user at the lending library.
Borrow anywhere, return anywhere! Materials borrowed on the ASIN borrower's card may be returned to any CAUL/CBUA library.
The ASIN card holder will be subject to the rules and regulations of the lending library. If fines are incurred, the lending library will follow normal procedures to the extent possible. In outstanding cases, the home institution will be informed of the delinquency and will apply the full force of its regulations to enforce the judgments of the lending institution.
