DESCRIPTION

Drawing on theorists ranging from Foucault and Ian Hacking to Chomsky and Steven Pinker, this course will examine the recent political, moral and existential issues raised by attempts to answer that question. Topics will include socio-biology, evolutionary psychology, the construction of human kinds, the “God gene”, hypnosis and the problem of free will.
