Water Discolouration: Due to high water draws, Halifax Water has issued a notice that tap water may be discoloured. It is recommended you run the cold water until it runs clear. Halifax Water is flushing the system to resolve the issue. We will provide updates when available.

Undergraduate Scholarships & Awards

King's Partnership with The Prep Academy

King’s is devoting a minimum of $7,500 in scholarships each year for PREP Academy students - a community based non-profit that inspires & prepares African Nova Scotian high school students for college & university.

The Gordon Earle Scholarship

The Gordon Earle Scholarship is available to an African Nova Scotian student entering King's Foundation Year Program.

Dr. Carrie Best Scholarship

For African Canadian students and Indigenous students in Canada enrolling in a four-year Bachelor of Journalism (Hons), BA, BSc, or Bachelor of Music.

Sylvia D. Hamilton Awards

Open to African Canadian students, with a focus on African Nova Scotians, and open to all degree streams at King’s with a preference for students in journalism and the King’s/Dalhousie MFA in Creative Non-Fiction.

Graduate Scholarships & Awards

GR William Lahey MFA Scholarship

The university’s first entrance scholarship for students in the Master of Fine Arts degree programs. Valued at $2,000 per year for up to two years, the scholarship will be awarded annually to a student entering either the MFA in Creative Nonfiction or Fiction.

Sylvia D. Hamilton Awards

Open to African Canadian students, with a focus on African Nova Scotians, and open to students in journalism and the King’s/Dalhousie MFA in Creative Non-Fiction.

CTV News Atlantic Scholarship

For students with demonstrated interest in television journalism. Preference given to Black Canadian and Indigenous students in Canada.

Reader's Digest Journalism Scholarship

For students interested in print journalism. Preference given to visible minority or other under-represented groups.

Journalism Director's Award

Open to African Nova Scotian or Mi'kmaw students entering the one year Bachelor of Journalism program.
