Life After King's: Policy, Politics and Public Service

The Registrar's Office at King's is pleased to present Life After King's: Policy, Politics and Public Service on Thursday March 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  in the KTS Lecture Hall (2nd floor, New Academic Building, 6350 Coburg Road.)

All students are welcome and are invited to bring their own "Brown Bag" lunch to this panel presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.

Our panelists will outline their career path and shore the joys, frustrations and opportunities of working in these areas. They include:

  • Janine A. Fraser, Executive Director, Atlantic Gateway Secretariat for the Atlantic Canada Opportunites Agency. Janine has worked for the Province of Ontario as a policy advisor on a number of major social policy initiatives, including social assistance reform and child poverty issues. Janine is a graduate of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario with a BA (Hons) in Political Studies and she has a Master's of Social Work (Policy) from the University of Toronto.
     

  • Shirely Hazen, Senior Policy Analyst, Nova Scotia Department of Finance. Shirley graduated from the University of King's College in 1985 with a first class honours degree in political science and economics. Shirely has an Masters in Economics from Carleton University and after a brief stint of reading the Prime Minister's mail has been employed by the Nova Scotia provincial government since 1987 starting as a Research and Statistics Officer at Mines and Energy. She is currently Senior Analyst (Policy) with the Department of Finance.
     

  • Andrew Younger, Member of the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly for Dartmouth East. Andrew has also served five years on Halifax Regional Council and has operated a successful small business in the field of television prodcution, journalism and communications. Andrew earned a combined Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Political Science from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of King's College.
