International Student Study Permit Details

For a study permit to be approved, students need all of the following three:

  • Letter of acceptance from King’s
  • Passport
  • Proof of enough funds to cover expenses for the year (normally satisfied through a letter from your bank or student loan documents; the expenses for the year will be listed on the letter of acceptance)

Note for US applicants:

Students applying to King’s from the US have their study permit issued from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate or at a Canadian Port of Entry.

Note for International applicants:

Students applying from outside of Canada and the US must apply for their study permit before leaving their home country. This process can often take several months, so it is wise to apply well in advance. Some countries will require a medical certificate as a requirement for the visa application. Please consult the nearest Canadian Consulate or High Commission.
