ACAA Soccer Championship Weekend

October 26, 2009

After a hard-fought weekend of soccer action on Saturday and Sunday, both the King's men and women's soccer teams came up short losing in the finals. Despite the hard losses, both teams gave everything they had and represented King's with pride.

The King's women were defeated 1-0 by the Mount St. Vincent Mystics in a final that saw our team do everything but score. The King's Men lost to Holland College, the host team, 2-0. The game was taken by Holland College in a spirited effort backed by their hometown fans despite some very skilled play by the Blue Devils.

Two King's players were selected as "Most Valuable Player" in the ACAA league. Marika MacKenzie, a second-year Journalism student  was named  female MVP at an Awards Ceremony held at Holland College. First-year Midfielder, Anders Peacock, was named male MVP. He scored the winning goal in the team's semi-final against Mount St. Vincent.

The men's loss ends a three-year championship run. The women's team proved that they are now "back in the hunt" and ready to make some noise in the future.
