The History of Science and Technology Programme (HOST) at the University of King's College invites applications for Teaching Assistant positions for its two courses on the History of Technology and Engineering (HSTC 1800 and HSTC 180) for the 2012-13 academic year. These courses offer a broad introductory survey to the history of technology. Taken together, they fulfill the university’s writing requirement.
TA duties will include attending lectures (2 hr/week), helping students with in-class exercises, leading tutorials (1-2 hr/week), marking assignments and tests, holding office hours, and attending teaching staff meetings. Candidates should have at least an undergraduate degree and strong interest in both science and the humanities. Candidates must also demonstrate a deep understanding of the English grammar and strong writing skills. Experience with ESL students will also be considered an asset. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant teaching experience or education. Pay scale will match the collective agreement between Dalhousie and CUPE.
