Bachelor of Science (Medical Sciences), Dalhousie University, 2022

Doctor of Medicine, Dalhousie University (in progress)

Hello, my name is Sinmi.

I moved to Canada from Nigeria in 2018 for my BSc at Dalhousie University and I loved it so much that I decided to stay. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on Dalhousie University’s ResLife team as a Resident Assistant (RA) and a Senior Resident Assistant for 3 years. I really enjoyed the student interactions and peer support part of my role which was why I applied to be a Don at Kings.

Since graduation, I have worked in customer support and in the Faculty of Science’s Deans office as the Outreach and Academic Integrity Manager. I am super excited to be a Don this year, and I look forward to meeting you all!

Dons are either upper-year King’s students or young professionals who live within a residence floor or bay and provide support to residents in their community.

They can help with:

  • Peer support & mentorship
  • Community building & programming
  • Conflict resolution between community members
  • Providing referrals to campus supports

Dons are the first line of support for individuals living in residence. There is a Don on Call available for urgent/immediate support each evening, weekend and holiday.

The Don on Call (4pm-8am Mon-Fri & 24/7 on weekends and holidays) can assist with:

  • After hours incident response
  • After hours emergency response
  • After hours mental health crisis response
